Bath Championship Show 2015 Critique

Delighted to judge one of my favourite breeds at this very well run show. I had excellent stewards and to see my BOB take BIS was a highlight of my year.

MPD (3) 1 Steele's Sorimsway Valient Hero. Dark grey, 8 mth old boy, excellent bone, grand depth of chest, strong forelegs, good width of front and complementing rear which gave a good outline, moved very soundly for a puppy, nice head and expression, dark eyes. Promising puppy.

2 Finnett & Heathcote's Hyndsight Deckard NAF. Good neck and shoulder, well bodied, great spring of rib and strong, firm loin, pleasing head with good ears, long tail and correct feet, movement a little awry but of course only a puppy.

3 Parsons & McKinnon's Claonaiglen Lochay.

PD (1) 1 Roberts' Ardlancien Forrester. Tall pale grey, moved quite well, strong boy all through, pleasing head with good eye and ears, small feet, would have liked a longer tail.

ND (1) 1 Jenkins' Kilbourne Poacher. Over coated dog, especially around the head, good deep chest and plenty of heart room, well angled rear, adequate back and fallaway, neat feet, good length of tail, moved well.

PGD (2) 1 Lucas & Dargonne's Packway Comanche Moon. Pale grey with lots of substance, good angles fore and aft, grand depth of chest, correct topline and fallaway, nice head and ears, moved soundly, close contender for top honours.

2 Steele's Harropine Celtic Warrior For Sorimsway. Not quite the movement of first but looked good on the stack, strong bone, in good muscular condition, would prefer longer tail but carried it correctly.

LD (6, 3) 1 Barret's Pharcourse Noah At Stranwith. Loved the outline and angles of this male, well arched neck, elegant head, good ears, firm in body, grand depth of chest, well tucked up, sweeping hindquarters, low hocks, a little unsettled today but did enough for me to award him the CC.

2 Taylor's Kilbourne Usher To Ormanstar. Liked this male a lot, so awarded him the Res CC. Sound in temperament and movement, my type of head, good ears, strong neck, shoulder placement flowing into correct back.

3 Finnett & Heathcote's Hyndsight Run To You.

OD (4, 1) 1 Baumann's Multi Ch Regalflight Tarloch. Pale grey with one of the best heads and expressions of the day, dark eyes, nice size, good front and lay of shoulder, great depth of chest and powerful loin, would just prefer a less level topline.

2 Wilson's Hamiltonhill Fred D Mercury. Nicely balanced hound, a bit of a fidget today, however lots of typical attributes, good depth of chest, excellent rear, low hocks.

3 Lewis' Luckhurst Nairn.

MPB (5, 2) 1 Parsons & McKinnon's Claonaiglen Collusca. Really fell for this pretty bitch, super to go over for one only just 6 mths, firm, strong, muscular, attractive head, good feet, long tail, moved with purpose.

2 Saxton & Pafford's Claonaiglen Cannich. I see is litter sister to first, lots to like about her too, longer cast than first, excellent coat texture, good neck and shoulder, neat feet.

3 Steele's Sorimsway Sweet Victory.

PB (2) 1 Bailey's Greyflax Ruby Tuesday. Well grown pale grey (please don't grow any more). Really houndy, used her frame well on the move, good strong neck, attractive head, correct ears, sweeping hindquarters which were well muscled. BP.

2 Steele's Sorimsway Field Of Poppies. Another nice puppy, immature to first but shows promise, typy in that she is houndy and well made with good angles, moved well.

JB (3) 1 Helps, Dove & Dove's Foxcliffe Classic Liberty Freedom At Beardswood (Imp). My find of the day. Overwhelmed that she stole the show by winning the Hound Group and BIS. If there was to be a silhouette cut out of a Deerhound she would be the perfect model. Her attributes shone out with lovely sound body and most outstanding was her superb movement, she got better and better as she glided around the big ring, lovely head and expression, typical of the breed. Her first CC and BOB, I wish her well in the future.

2 Taylor's Ormanstar Cherry Blossom. Another very nice bitch with so much to like, great outline, pretty head, strong neck and good shoulder placement, correct topline to well set and carried tail, moved with ease.

3 Wilbraham's Marivon Fallon.

NB (1) 1 Wilbraham's Ardlancien Elona. Feminine girl, good shoulder and depth of chest, nice fallaway and tail set and carriage, low hocks and good feet, nice mover.

PGB (8) 1 Finnett & Heathcote's Hyndsight Magic In The Night. Lovely bitch with the most attractive of heads. Delightful, well presented dark coat of good texture, correct slightly raised topline, good hindquarters, well muscled, very good feet, moved with purpose.

2 Owen, Brodie & Cody's Wolfscastle Greyce. Another lovely bitch, different type and a little longer cast, good width of front, lovely rear, well muscled, pleasing head, ears and eyes, loved her movement and temperament.

3 Aston's Ardlancien Eiryn To Balgaled.

LB (4) 1 Finnett & Heathcote's Hyndsight Runin Down A Dream. Gorgeous dark grey in super muscular condition, strong neck and charming head with neat ears and darkest of eyes, not a tall girl but exquisite type from this kennel, grand depth of chest, excellent bone throughout, moved well.

2 Lucas & Dargonne's Glenmorlich None So Pretty For Packway. This bitch moved very well, not the topline of first, excellent depth of chest and well sprung ribs, one with the power to do the job they were bred for, flowing hindquarters, good feet, nicely set ears on an attractive head.

3 Tresh's Lyndorthwin Ethel Grey.

OB (6, 1) 1 Taylor's Kilbourne Pandora To Talorpeche. Typy, well made bitch, gorgeous head and expression, strong bone, good width of front, correct topline, long sweeping hindquarters, long tail, moved well with excellent carriage. Pleased to award her the Res CC.

2 Bailey's Greyflax Just Peachy. Longer cast bitch than first, well made, in good condition, excelled in front and rear angles, grand spring of rib and depth of chest, moved soundly and well handled.

3 Pursglove's Stranwith Aria At Roguesmoor ShCM.
